Atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
- Hiroshima is the capital of Hiroshima Prefecture, largest city in the Chugoku region of western Honshu, the largest island of Japan.
- It became the first city in history to be destroyed by a nuclear weapon when the United States of America dropped an atomic bomb on it at 8:15 A.M. on August 6, 1945 and followed by Nagasaki near the end of World War II.
- Nagasaki is the is the capital and the largest city of Nagasaki Prefecture on the island of Kyushu in Japan. Nagasaki began as a small fishing village, formerly part of Nishisonogi District. It became a center of Portuguese and European influence in the 16th through 19th centuries.

- These two memorable events happened because the ignorance of Japan to surrender as demanded by United States together with United Kingdom and the Republic of China in World War 2.
- By the executive order by US President Harry S.Truman, the US army dropped the nuclear weapon which is known as ''Little Boy'' on the city of Hiroshima on Monday, August 6, 1945 followed by detonation of nuclear bomb ''Fat Man'' over Nagasaki on August 9,1945. The explosion of the bombs causes mass destruction towards the city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
What causes it?
The 'Fat man' in Nagasaki and 'Little Boy' in Hiroshima.
'Fat man'
- Containing a core of approximation of 6.4kg of plutonium-239.
- The explosion produced a blast yield equivalent to 21 kilotons of TNT (88TJ).
- The explosion generated heat estimated at 3,900 degrees Celsius and winds that were estimated at 1005 km/h .
'Little Boy
''Little Boy'' is a gravity bomb and a gun type fission weapon.
- This bomb contains 60kg of uranium-235.
- Created a blast equivalent to about 13 kilotons of TNT (54TJ.
- The U-235 weapon was considered very inefficient with only 1.38% of its material fissioning.
